Motivation is a mysterious word! It is a delicate area in coaching. We all ‘know’ what it is, but the elixir of motivation is like the genie in the bottle. When we assist a client to open up an area of their life fraught with former ‘failures’ and ‘missed opportunities’, we can be like skiers walking across a potential avalanche zone. Only after effective coaching can some ‘avalanche zone explorers’ (people afraid of offending others) move towards the confidence level needed for self-inclusion in a difficult area.

How might we do this in a short, 30-minute coaching session, where every question needs to be of laser-like focus?  How does an effective coach assist people to:

  1. Move past aggravated ‘failure’ thought systems that disrupt the ‘start-up’ process?
  2. Choose the step-by-step beginning that moves in the most straight-forward path towards the goal?
  3. Have the goal of valid participation in a difficult area become an exciting celebratory re-alignment and re-charge?
  4. Build effective steps towards the resilience needed to get the result?

Motivation is fueled by commitment. 100% motivation is fueled by 100% commitment. Would it worth it for you to have multiple ways to assist your clients to stoke that fire?
