Are you interested in or already practicing team coaching? Do you aspire to or currently coach at board level? Are you interested in governance issues such as the psychology of the board, leadership derailment, group decision-making bias, boardroom diversity, meeting design, and coaching director resilience? This interactive presentation provides cutting edge information, advice and case studies on how to effectively coach governing boards. It explains why Chairs and board directors are now more aware of team dynamics issues (rather than simply being focused on compliance), what boardroom dynamics is, and how to effectively support and challenge these issues as a board coach.
The session is also a call to arms to encourage more team coaches to become involved in working with governing boards, and describes how new regulation, in particular around requirements for external board evaluation, may provide an opportunity for us to do just this.
Dr Jeremy Cross is a Chartered Psychologist, team coach and author of the textbook ‘Boardroom Dynamics’ published in July 2019. Jeremy has a background in sport (being a former tennis professional), sports coaching (having originally trained in the Inner Game approach by Sir John
Whitmore), and sports psychology (with the GB Men’s Hockey Team and having attended 3 Commonwealth Games). Over the last 15 years, Jeremy has worked in leadership development as the Head of the Middlesex University/EMCC Coaching Accreditation programme at Lane4 and was a Visiting Faculty Member and MSc Supervisor on the Professional Certificate in Coaching at Henley Business School. He is now a freelance board-level coach and author specialising in boardroom dynamics.
